An event that I look forward to throughout each new year is the Frei Reunion Campout. This year I decided to take Friday off, so I could head down to McMillan and set up my tent on Thursday night. Kaytee and Oliver stayed home this weekend because Katyee was to host Jordyn's Bachelorette party. Jordyn's wedding was the next weekend.

We were set up on lot 38 where I had our orange Marmot tent and Mom and Dad had their Shadow Cruiser truck camper mounted on a flat bed trailer. Set up went well and quickly but it was dark when we were all done. Soon thereafter we went to sleep in the hot and muggy weather.

Friday

Friday rained for a good portion. I believe until the afternoon. Mom and I went to Walmart to grab some supplies (mainly food) for the weekend. We thought Dad had to work for Band Box, but they told him he didn't have to. Here are the people who brought campers and stayed the whole weekend: Babe & Jo, Grandma and Grandpa, Cindi & Charlie & Missy, Clint & Nina & kids, and us three.

Andrew, Jess, and Jensen came out Friday afternoon. Poor Jensen wasn't having any of it. I think we had Brats. After dinner supper, we got around the camp fire and played instruments and sang. A few extra people came out including Aunt Sherry and Uncle Kenny. Andrew stayed the night in my tent and we talked of all things fatherly and manly.

Saturday

Andrew took off early - before breakfast. We woke up late and made pancakes and bacon. Later Dad, Clint, Noah, Lily and I hiked the bluff. It was pretty fun, even with Dad's flatulence as an ever-present threat. We also played a good amount of Kubb, had fire-grilled shrimp as an afternoon snack and had our big pot luck for supper. Our families contributed everything from banana bread to vegetables. Many people came out for it - too many to list.

More kubb and badminton was played throughout the evening, but instruments weren't brought out due to threatening rain. Kids went off and did some swimming as well. The remaining people sat and chatted around the camp fire - or near it.

Sunday

Easily the most beautiful day was put to use for packing up all our camping things. It was a nice dry day unlike the previous two - perfect to dry out a tent. We had hobo dinner and pudgy pie reubens! A great combo.

The next camp out is the church camp out 3 weeks later!
